I don't, but i did  make a bull chart when we did the bfs 4.32 at F-O...
It just had the bullseye, and the airbases and the outline of the terrain, so that I had an easy reference to where I was or where other things were... and also I used to nav home once when I got shot up. Meh.

Did you try the "run as administrator" thing from earlier in this threat, once I did that everything worked fine for me.  i've successfully done f1 and f2 checks during the f-o tests

I used to use ventrilo back when I was doing MMO's,
seems like that allowed multi channel listen/talk simultaneously, but only for subscription

I have thought that multi-uhf IVC (client) would be pretty cool...
I'm not clear on how much of a bandwidth hit that would be.

IVC server can already handle multiple channels... it would just be a mod on the client...

The client is already doing n=2 so i'm not really sure why it would be so difficult to do n=x...

I honestly can't remember if F4AWACS comes with a IVC interface... but it seems like it would be a really great add on to that already great package.  How many channels would you imagine as "ideal" from a C2 perspective?

sure you were running the correct aispy for the correct falcon version?

4.32 is 32 bit and 4.33 is 64

Learned another bit of 2d AWACS trivia that I didn't know before tonight...

If there is a flight that has taken off before its fragged time, it won't appear on the map, even if it is airborne.

This evening, claw flight was scheduled to take off at 18 after the hour.  They actually came up at about 10 after...    I had negative "radar" contact with them until approximately 20 after even though they were flying right through the middle of blue guy radar fov.

Here I would like to present a variety of situations where C2 was invaluable.  First up is going to be this evening's foray into BFS.

Avenger2 flight is interdicting west of Eilat.
Magic (me) checks up and finds them on the map.  I notice they have two bandits one to their east, and another to their west, both closing on them.  I am not sure they were aware of both or either bandit...  So I call them out.

About this time Avenger 21 gets hit, by something...  air/ground, I don't know... Avionics out, He asks for pigeons to nearest field.

In the meantime, I give a point out to 22 (who i can't see because he isn't a flight lead, gee thanks 2d map).  Oh and by the way, there's a friendly Mirage approaching from the North, too...  don't shoot that guy...   Avenger22 proceeds to splash the first/eastern bandit.

He is then getting pointed around to the second bandit (ivo 180/20, but again I can't see him)
Flight lead (Avenger 21) has now been given a braa call to etzion (like 119/40) and is pointed at a friendly field.

22 is chasing bandit #2 west, when I see that there are 2 more bandits tracking in toward him, and his mirage has turned away as well...

Magic:  your group is dragging west, into 2 more bandits inbound, recommend flow east...

Avenger 22: flowing east.

So in review:
1.  Provided SA that there was a threat in the immediate vicinity
2.  Provided pigeons to nearest friendly field (not home plate) to a damaged friendly (who DID make it to a safe landing)
3.  Provided discrete callouts to two separate bandits, getting one splashed
4.  Provided tactical analysis to avoid flying my guy into a 3v1 trap "It's a Trap!"  and sent him home safely

Of the things I listed above, the AI AWACS can't really do any of them.

General Discussion / ATO / RFF
« on: November 07, 2016, 10:19:39 PM »
So it's definitely premature for this, but I thought i'd start a topic to get some discussion rolling...

So one thing I want to make is an ATO where FC2 events are posted, and who is scheduled into them.  These will be training events that we use to drive training for our students.  Probably just MP TE's.   Some other squadrons already have ATO's out there...   Anybody know what they are using, and can we steal it?

The second thing I want to add is a RFF
That's acronym speak for "Request For Forces"

Essentially, what i'd like to do is once we have a pool of 'qualified' controllers, I want other people from the online community to be able to come up here and go "hey we're doing an event at xyz time and date, and we would like a qualified controller".  Then our guys can go bid/schedule into that event.

Of course if we can't get some more participation that will be somewhat moot...  but since we are trying, let's try :)

It makes sense, that IVC has to run as administrator in order to install the key hooks to make F1, F2, and F3 work when IVC doesn't have program focus.

Oh and I meant to post this in Software so i'm moving these posts over there :)

Had a good night last night...

I fragged up an interdiction mission (solo) as I happened to spot an armored mech batallion lined up all nice and convenient like just to the east of a village.

Take off and get 16 indications to the west.  Geez, is that a friendly 16 or an enemy 16.  I have no idea...  Too bad there isn't any human awacs to help me out.

So I spin a bit, as i'm not really interested in taking an aim7 to the face, and i'm full of bombs so I don't really want to get into a fight with another F16 right now.

Coming back, things seem to be clear, so I go ahead fly over to the target, roll in, and ccip off my clusterbombs on the line of enemy armor.  Wiped it real good.

But sheesh, now i've still got about an hour worth of gas, as well as 4x Aim 9's...   So I go setup an e/w cap 20 miles north of bullseye.

After hanging out there for a while, another pilot (eh, sorry didnt recall who it was) was flying some strikes up to my north.  I caught 23 rwr indications from his general direction and told him what I saw.  "hey thanks" and he was engaged.

I had broken out of my cap and was blasting up in that direction, and arrived to find two contacts coming at me from about 15 miles.  So I step on the radio and ask if he is the lead or the trail...   Uh, he's in the lead, defensive and dragging the 23 toward me.  We pass/merge and the mig bites off on me.  So I drag him around the corner and the other pilot pops in and shoots a heater at him.  I call the splash, and now we're both out of gas, so it's time to go back and land.

On the way back, I saw two flights leaving toward the west,
so after I landed, shutdown, and got out of the sim, I picked up magic in 2d...

Proceeded to direct the first group (a 4 ship) against a flight close to them, and a second flight leaning on them (got them pointed out to the guy that was inbound).  They handled all of that plus their original task and went home.

Then called intercepts on two groups for the other flight (a single ship).   There was a group coming from the west, due east.  This pilot was up to the north.  Then I told him about the 'east group' that was orbiting  to his southeast.  He elected to go after the orbiting east group...   Got another point out to the west group that was flying directly into where the merge with the east group was going to occur.

Pilot flies down and splashes east group, and I was able to provide immediate bogeydope to the west group that was now about 10 miles northwest.  He cranks around, intercepts and splashes that guy.

Magic clean.

Good times for all.

So an interesting fact to give consideration to is what exactly "factor range" is, within Falcon.  In the BFS campaign, the weapons are limited to Aim7, which presents a little different threat picture than aim120's.

K so big thanks to 51st Squeak for this bit of gouge,

Had to go in and run Falcon BMS exe  to run as administrator
and also go into IVC and run IVC Client exe as administrator
in compatibility mode

Once I did that, everything was sweet.

Yeah so i'm back to not being able to use IVC while i'm in 2d.

I have setup a shortcut to start IVC with /k flag to enable hooks,
I launch that from the desktop before I start BMS.

That should be it, right?
